SCCA National Championship Runoffs, Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, Oct. 7-12, 2014:

Mazda’s Support: NASA Championships

Coaching, contingency awards and other benefits await Mazda racers at the NASA Championships this weekend

National Auto Sport Association’s Championships held at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca is fast approaching and with it, five-figure continency awards, parts and technical support, coaching, and SWAG from Mazda Motorsports.

Mazda Motorsports’ parts specialist James Painter will be on hand to support the racers and teams with parts and technical inquiries. James will also provide Mazda Motorsports t-shirts to the Mazda racers and crew, and host a food reception on site Saturday during the lunch hour with a raffle filled with Mazda SWAG.

A staple of Mazda’s support at the championship events, Mazda racers can receive complimentary professional coaching. 2021 MX-5 Cup scholarship recipient and former NASA Teen Mazda Challenge (TMC) racer Chris Nunes will be on hand offering coaching debriefs for Mazda drivers Thursday through Saturday.

Mazda Motorsports continues its support of NASA racers with a strong contingency program. Nearly $10,000 per class (except Time Trials, PFM, FM and F2.0) is up for grabs in contingency money. $4,000 will go to the winner, down to $1,000 for fifth-place Mazda finishers.

NASA’s (TMC), a focus of Mazda’s, continues to grow for a variety of reasons. The overall support Mazda gives to the racers is unmatched. Among the support is a $5,000-valued award, which is in addition to the standard payouts outlined above. For the highest finishing TMC driver who finishes in the top 10 and beats at least three other TMC drivers, he or she will earn $1,000 + $4,000 in parts support if used on Spec MX-5 parts.

Mazda racers competing in Time Trials are eligible for parts support.

To help Mazda racers earn these awards, Mazda Motorsports offers regional champions a tow fund of up to $500 to compete at NASA Championships.

For Time Trial competitors, first place can earn $600 in parts support, with payouts extending to fifth place for $150 in parts support.
