Television recap of 2019 season on MAVTV previews the upcoming season livestream to be hosted on LucasOilRacing.tv
IRVINE, Calif. (February 5, 2020) – Fans of the Battery Tender(R) Mazda MX-5 Cup presented by BFGoodrich will be able to relive the battle for the 2019 season championship as a warmup to watching every lap of the 2020 season as it unfolds.
Beginning on February 20, six episodes of the 2019 MX-5 Cup season will air on MAVTV on consecutive Thursdays at 2:00 PM EST and 5:00 PM EST. Each episode will feature one race weekend from the season, culminating in the season finale at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca in which Bryan Ortiz clinched the season championship. MAVTV is available in 32 million homes in the United States.
For the 2020 season, each MX-5 Cup race will be streamed live on LucasOilRacing.tv with the races uploaded to the Mazda USA YouTube page one day later.
The 2019 championship was one of the most competive seasons in MX-5 Cup’s history. In the 12-race season, five different drivers took the victory with 2,665 on-track passes completed. In 2020, the MX-5 Cup features a prize package valued at over $500,000 for the racers, including a $200,000 career advancement scholarship for the season champion and $75,000 for the Rookie of the Year. In 2019, Bryan Ortiz captured the season championship while Michael Carter took the Rookie of the Year honors.
