This top-tier braking system, designed specifically for the ND-chassis Mazda MX-5, was introduced for the 2022 season of MX-5 Cup after extensive testing and development. With the same kit used by the pros, Mazda now offers racing enthusiasts a chance to elevate their MX-5s with unparalleled stopping power and control. This package has performed flawlessly in the Whelen Mazda MX-5 Cup presented by Michelin, the official racing series for MX-5 Cup cars.

At the core of the Brembo MX-5 Cup brake package is advanced engineering designed to deliver maximum performance and consistency. The kit features forged aluminum 4-piston calipers, engineered with Brembo’s load optimization software to enhance stiffness and improve braking feedback. This design prioritizes driver input, offering an exceptional driving experience that matches the performance of the MX-5 Cup cars. This was achieved through Brembo and Mazda Motorsports working together to achieve the proper caliper piston sizing, ensuring it works with the OEM ABS / variable proportioning.  Central to the system are the 310mm x 28mm two-piece, full-floating slotted discs, which are optimized for cooling through a curved, directional vane geometry that maximizes airflow. This ensures the system can handle the demands of competition while maintaining consistent performance throughout a race.

Although the package is compatible with street versions of the ND-chassis MX-5 (wheel size permitting), it is primarily designed with racing in mind. In addition to increased stiffness and improved cooling, this package offers a significant upgrade in braking consistency, giving drivers the confidence to push their cars to the limit. The system provides excellent pedal feedback, keeping drivers closely connected to the car—a crucial factor in precise lap times and overall race performance.

While multiple pad options are available, Mazda Motorsports recommends the PAGID pads (P/N 0000-03-5106-61), which are fitted on MX-5 Cup cars. These pads are intended for track use only (slick tires) and are not recommended for street driving.
