Toledo ProSolo Preview

The Toledo ProSolo event is coming up June 10 and 11 and is sold out, with over 275 drivers pre-registered with more on the wait list. Fun fact… nearly 60 are driving Mazdas!

Ladies first: Tamra Hunt is going for a repeat win in L1 after her success at the NJ ProSolo with her DSP RX-8. This large class of 13 drivers won’t let her take the win easily. L3 will have Kate Claffie and Shari McCoy driving NC Miatas hunting for the win.

C-Street brings out the father-son Garfield team (seen in the picture above), who were 1-2 at the NJ ProSolo. However, don’t count out one of the other 10 ND Miata drivers in this class, nor Chris Sparks in his RX-8.

Street Touring Sport is a Mazda vs Honda battle, with Miatas tending to favor momentum courses while the Hondas excel at power courses. Ben Wagstaff looks promising, but we’re not counting out locals Chris Abele, Alex Speight, and Jeff Majarian. Street Touring Roadster is one of the largest classes at the event with 20 drivers. Brian Karwan is coming off of a win at the NJ ProSolo and is favorite to win, but we hear that Will Koscielny has made even more improvements to his new build ND Miata; he and co-driver Mark Dudek will be ones to keep an eye on this season. Darrin DiSimo also brought his ND Miata all the way from Florida and has been having some great success this season, so we expect him to fight hard not to have an empty handed long drive home.

The prepared classes will be interesting. B-Street Prepared brings us to the purple crack (Hoosier Tire) classes, where Jason Thompson will be looking to represent his home state. C-Street Prepared got a little more interesting this event with talented driver Christopher Lin jumping into “Oscar” with Mike Kline. Both will be looking to take down defending National Champion Billy Davis. D-Street Prepared brings a lone RX-8 against the BMW heavy class, driven by Andrew Krystinik and Jeff Hurst. We hear this car is a new build with development in progress, so definitely one to watch out for this season.

Super Street Modified may not be a large class, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t packed with talent. Carter Thompson and Jake Namer, both in FD RX-7s and National Champions, will be up against Eric Anderson and Randall Wilcox in the incredibly built SSM Miata that just took Top Pax honors at Spring Nationals last weekend. This class will be one not to miss.

Last but not least, the large R2 index class for prepared cars will have Andrew Pfotenhauer, Stephen Lee, and Shawn Lambert, all driving Miatas, chasing down some tough competition in this mixed class of cars.

Mazda Motorsports would like to wish best of luck to all drivers at the Toledo ProSolo, especially those in Mazdas!
