Glenn McGee shares his excitement and asks for your vote:

Just when I thought my life couldn’t get any more surreal, it does! It was only last year that I went from sitting in a virtual race car, competing online on iRacing’s simulator, to sitting in a real-life race car, touring North America and competing against some of the best up-and-coming sports car drivers in the Idemitsu MX-5 Cup presented by BFGoodrich® Tires. I’m racing a Mazda, as a Mazda Scholarship Driver, being coached and groomed by Mazda’s best champions, with a path to becoming an elite Mazda athlete in the Mazda Road to 24 ladder system. I started living a dream that I never thought would happen for me, and couldn’t possibly get any better, and then I got some astonishing news.

I was told Wednesday night that, because of my surprise-performance in MX-5 Cup as the ‘gamer’ turned professional driver, I was nominated as a ‘ROC Factor’ finalist to be the wild card driver in this year’s Race Of Champions (ROC). Icing on the cake, I would be teaming-up with one of my heroes, Mazda prototype/INDY driver, James Hinchcliffe, to represent Team North America in the ROC Nations Cup.

The Race Of Champions is an international event that pits the world’s best drivers from Formula1, NASCAR, Rally, and more, in arena style racing, in equally prepared cars, to see who is the best of the best. For 2017 it consists of elite drivers, such as Sebastian Vettel, Felipe Massa, Juan Pablo Montoya, Jensen Button, Ryan Hunter-Reay, Kyle & Kurt Busch.

This year’s ROC will take place in Miami on January 20-21 in front of thousands of fans, within the Marlins Park Arena as well as globally both on the internet and television. I may actually have the chance to join my fellow Mazda driver, James Hinchcliffe and take on my racing heroes in front of thousands of fans within the Marlins Park Stadium and around the world on TV.

There is a caveat, however, that you and your friends can help with. As 1 of 10 ROC Factor finalists, I need enough popular votes to be selected as the wild card driver. I would be grateful and honored to receive YOUR VOTE in my bid to represent the US, North America, and Mazda during this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Thank you for your time and support!
