Video: MX-5 Cup Finale

Highlights of the Idemitsu Mazda MX-5 Cup finale weekend at Road Atlanta during Petit Le Mans.

The racing in the Idemitsu Mazda MX-5 Cup Presented by BFGoodrich® Tires is exciting enough as it is. Throw in some tricky weather on the final weekend with championships on the line, and you’ve got quite the show.

MX-5 Cup competitor John Dean ended up walking away with the championship after coming so close in recent years, finishing in the top three in the points in three consecutive seasons. He edged out Patrick Gallagher, Nathanial Sparks and 2014 Skip Barber MAZDASPEED Pro Challenge champion Drake Kemper to do so.

In this year’s Skip Barber MAZDASPEED Pro Challenge, Robby Foley came away the winner, with less than 20 points separating him and fourth-place finisher Ben Albano. In between were Sam Adams and Nikko Reger.

The exciting races at Road Atlanta were also the swan song for the NC MX-5 Cup cars. In 2016, the new Mazda MX-5 Cup car based on the ND chassis becomes the tool for Idemitsu Mazda MX-5 Cup. The full schedule for the 2016 series should be released shortly.
