MX-5 Cup Car Sneak Peak at SCCA Track Night

2016 MX-5 Cup Car will be shown at SCCA Track Night in America at Willow Springs International Raceway on Aug. 18.

The upcoming SCCA Track Night in America Driven by Tire Rack event on Tuesday, Aug. 18 at Willow Springs International Raceway in Southern California will have a special guest: the new 2016 Mazda MX-5 Cup race car.

Only a few sleek, curvy 2016 Mazda MX-5 Cup cars are currently in the United States.  But sports car fans that come out to Willow Springs will get an early, close-up look at a car likely to become a favorite of club and pro racers alike.  Also scheduled to appear are Mazda factory racers Tom Long and Kenton Koch.  They’ll be on hand to sign autographs, take some selfies, chat about auto racing, and perhaps put the new Mazda MX-5 Cup car through its paces on track.

Track gates open at 3pm and admission is free for those wishing to stare lovingly at the new Mazda MX-5 Cup car and watch Track Night in America festivities.  To celebrate this unique occurrence, a special Coupon Code has been created for drivers that would like to join in on-track fun that evening in their own vehicles. Register before Aug. 18 at www.TrackNightinAmerica.com using the Coupon Code TRACKMAZDA for a $25 discount on enrollment. And attendees that show up in their everyday Mazda might earn some free swag.

According to the SCCA, Track Night in America is one of the easiest ways for nearly anyone to get on a real racing circuit with almost any car.  People only need be at least 18 years old with a valid driver’s license, and have access to a racing helmet and street car in good working condition.  Participants don’t need to be an SCCA member, and no previous on-track experience is required.

Entrants are divided into Novice, Intermediate or Advanced groups so on-track time remains enjoyable for everyone.  The cost is never more than $150 per entrant and grants three 20-minute sessions on track, as well as access to SCCA coaches.  Admission is free for those wishing to just hang out, take pictures, enjoy the festivities or display cherished rides; and a leisurely track parade lap is usually offered during most events for all guests.
