Mazda Motorsports offers a Contingency program for Mazda drivers competing in various classes of Formula Drift, Rally America, NASA Rally Sport and SCCA RallyCross. If you haven’t signed up for the Mazda Team Support Program, that should be your first step. Here is a summary of the program as it relates to Drift, Rally and RallyCross.

Contingency Program Summary

To be eligible for contingency awards, drivers must sign up for the Mazda Team Support Program; furthermore, the following requirements must be met:

  • Drivers must display a Mazda patch or embroidery on the front of their driving suit
  • Your Mazda race car must fit into one of the following categories:
    • Mazda production vehicle with modified or stock bodywork using an original or approved Mazda engine
    • Mazda-powered, purpose-built race car using Mazda-approved “silhouette” bodywork
    • Mazda-powered purpose-built race car, such as an open-wheel car, using a stock or modified Mazda engine
    • The Mazda race car must be display the required Mazda logos as directed in the Contingency Program requirements
  • For Formula Drift events, Mazda awards contingencies to drivers finishing in first and second place overall with the winner earning $500
  • For both Rally America and NASA Rally Sport events, Mazda awards contingencies to drivers finishing first and second overall with the winner earning $200. Furthermore, in two-wheel drive class, contingencies will be awarded to first and second place finishers with the winner earning $400
  • For SCCA RallyCross National events, Mazda awards contingencies to drivers finishing in first and second place with the winner earning $200. The SCCA RallyCross National Championship awards contingencies to drivers finishing in the top-3 with the winner earning $750

Race shops that service Mazda Team Support Program members are also eligible to become members of the program as well. The following benefits are extended to race shops enrolling in the Mazda Team Support Program:

  • The ability to buy Mazda-approved Stock and Competition parts at special discounted rates
  • Access to the Mazda Motorsports technical experts, who assist our racers (aka competitors) in building and maintaining their Mazda race car
