Track Night in AmericaThe much anticipated 2016 calendar of events for SCCA Track Night in America Driven by Tire Rack (TNiA) has been announced and is listed below. The event calendar can be found at TrackNightinAmerica.com, and online registration will open soon so driving enthusiasts can plan for their motorsport adventures in April, May, June, July, August and September of this year. TNiA is a non-competitive, entertaining, easy and inexpensive way for nearly anyone who loves cars or motorsports to get on a race course in his or her own vehicle during weeknights. All that is required is that participants be at least 18 years old with a valid driver’s license and have access to a helmet and street car in good working condition. The cost is never greater than $150 per event, and no previous on-track experience or SCCA membership is required. Drivers participate in the Advanced, Intermediate or KONI Novice Experience group so on-track activities remain fun for all. Everyone gets three 20-minute sessions on course, as well as feedback from SCCA driver coaches on site. Admission is free for people who just want to stop by and watch the fun, and leisurely circuit parade laps are provided for all guests. Of note this year are nine new venues added to the schedule. Those tracks include Roebling Road Raceway in Bloomingdale, Georgia; Putnam Park Road Course in Greencastle, Indiana; Palmer Motorsports Park in Palmer, Massachusetts; DCTC Driver Training Facility in Rosemount, Minnesota; Pocono Raceway in Long Pond, Pennsylvania; Carolina Motorsports Park in Kershaw, South Carolina; Harris Hill Raceway in San Marcos, Texas; Dominion Raceway in Thornburg, Virginia; and Pacific Raceways in Kent, Washington. The Track Night in America season kicks off April 7 at Carolina Motorsports Park and wraps up September 16 at Portland International Raceway. Registration is anticipated to open the first week of March, perhaps as early as March 1 – so those interested in reserving a spot should check back at www.TrackNightinAmerica.com frequently to ensure they don’t miss the opening of registration. The calendar is subject to change, with additional dates and venues likely to be added in the coming weeks.
