Frequently Asked Questions
MEMBERSHIP
How do I become a member?
You need to race a Mazda or Mazda powered vehicle (except for Ford branded vehicles) and be able to provide two official race results per year to qualify. You may also join our Team Support Program if your are in the process of building a race car. See our rules under the Membership link in the INFO button at the top of this page for further details.
Do you provide sponsorships?
The Team Support Program itself is a sponsorship. Mazda offers parts discounts to racers to help make it more affordable to race. Mazda also pays cash contingency awards in many classes. We do not give direct cash sponsorships.
How do I maintain my membership?
This is the simplest rule of our program. Simply send in two race results a year showing that you're at least attempting to race. Underline or put a star by your name on the results and put your Team Support Number somewhere on the page and
Fax to 949-222-2650,

MAZDASPEED MOTORSPORTS DEVELOPMENT
1421 REYNOLDS AVENUE
IRVINE , CA 92614 I've been a member for three years and have bought lots of parts but haven't sent in results lately. Can't you just send me my order?
Our memberships are not based on length of membership or volume of purchases. It is based solely on whether you race or not. You need to provide two race results a year to maintain your membership. If you are not up to date on results, you cannot purchase ANY parts.
PARTS
As a Team Support Member, can I buy my competition parts through a Mazda Dealer?
No. Mazda Competition parts are only available through MAZDASPEED MOTORSPORTS. Our Mazda dealerships do not participate in our racing support program. Discounted stock parts are also NOT available through the dealers. We do not have any "Authorized Competition Parts Dealers".
I'm a Team Support Member. Can I buy stock parts for my MPV? (or other non-raced car)
NO. As a Team Support Member, you are eligible to buy stock parts for your race car only. You must provide race results for each vehicle you buy stock parts for. This is a huge benefit to you for racing a Mazda, and helps to make it more affordable for you to race. Stock parts for your street driven car must be purchased through a Mazda Dealer.
What stock parts are available through Mazda's Team Support Program?
With current race results, you can buy nearly any stock part that is needed on your car for your racing class. We reserve the right to decline any sale for any reason. We do not sell glass, batteries, chemicals, or Mazda factory accessories, most of which are available through your authorized Mazda Dealer.
I'm not a Team Support Member. Which parts can I buy?
None. Sorry, but our program is for the support of Mazda racers only. Many of the items we sell are available elsewhere to the general public.
I build race-cars for people. Can I buy stock parts for their vehicle?
No. You should have your customers register in our program. They can designate you as their builder and you will be able to order for them. The customer will be billed directly and all eligible parts could then be shipped to you. Stock parts cannot be ordered for one car but used on another.
BILLING
Why am I charged tax?
Many people think that when ordering "mail order" from out of state, they don't have to pay tax. The reality is that if the business being ordered from has a place of business in your state, they have to charge that state's tax. Mazda has dealers in every state.
Why am I overcharged tax? My invoice says the part was $5.00, but the tax is $67.00.
The slip that you receive with your order is a "packing slip", not an invoice. The tax and freight amounts are INCORRECT. Parts may be shipped from one, or several warehouses throughout the U.S. and Canada . Usually, the full tax amount for your entire order is reprinted on every packing slip, and the Freight Charge is either not shown, or shows some odd amount. You are not charged according to the packing slip. We assure you, that you are not overcharged on tax. Refer to your credit card statement for the proper amount of your order, or if your order was placed online, you can see your order and billing history.
Why doesn't my invoice match my credit card statement?
Again, your packing slip is not an invoice. Only the individual parts prices are correct. The total of these, plus your state's tax and freight, will be the correct total. Your credit card statement is correct. If your order was placed online, you can see your order and billing history.
RETURNS
Understand that Mazda Competition Parts is not a retail business, but rather a racing support program. Our main purpose here is to help get you the parts you need, as quickly and inexpensively as possible. We are not a store for you to order parts to see if you like them and return on a whim. Please be sure of what you want before you order. It is very expensive, difficult, and time consuming to take back parts. We sell all of our parts at steep discount and even pass along our very reasonable shipping rates without markup. Keep in mind that you might order a wrong part and feel you've wasted $20.00, but that should more than be offset by the discounts you receive overall.
How do I return a part?
Currently, you need to call us with the SALES ORDER NUMBER from your packing slip and the part number(s) you'd like to return. You must call within 25 days of the shipping date to return any parts. A sales representative will take this information to generate a Return Authorization Number. Any order returned must have a minimum value of $20.00 with any single part being over $5.00 to be eligible for a return. A 20% RESTOCKING FEE PLUS SHIPPING WILL BE CHARGED TO ALL RETURNED ITEMS.
All returned parts must be in New, unused condition. Please package the items to avoid damage. Put a copy of your packing slip inside the package and write your Return Authorization Number in bold letters on the outside of the shipping package. Do not write on the parts package itself. Address the package as below, and keep a copy of your tracking number when you ship it. Credits take 6-8 weeks from the time the part gets back to the warehouse. Returns go to:
Mazda
Attn: MRA Claims
4305 E Jurupa Street
Ontario, CA 91761
Do not send a part back without a Return Authorization Number. You will lose your parts.
How long does it take to get credits?
Any single part returned may have as many as 15 people handle the part or paperwork for that return. It takes approximately 60 days from the date the warehouse receives your returned part before your credit card will be credited. This does not include any time lost due to shipping delays.. Realistically, it can take as long as 6-8 weeks from the date the part get back to the warehouse to get your credit. ORDER WISELY.
Why does it take so long?
As a racing support program, our main priority is to get you the parts you need as quick as possible. Our priority will remain that we process orders until they're done, and then work on returns. The longest delay will be once your return gets back to the warehouse. Our warehouses are very large and service over 700 Mazda Dealers ordering thousands of parts daily and several hundred Competition Parts members. There are a lot of parts returned from all of these sources and it takes awhile to get through them. There are especially long delays at the end of the year.
How do I know whether I can return a part?
Any order returned must have a minimum value of $20.00 with any single part in that order being over $5.00 to be eligible for a return. You must call within 25 days of the shipping date with all information needed, to return any item. Electrical items are not returnable. Special Ordered items are not returnable. Specially discounted items are not returnable. Certain other items, at our discretion, may not be returnable.
RACING
What is an official result?
An official result is published by the sanctioning body of an event, which can be on a website, printed at the track or a club newsletter. It must include Your Name, make and/or model in which you competed, racing class you competed in, the date of the event and the sanctioning body that held the event. By this description, time slips, alone, do not qualify as official race results.
Do you support Drag Racing?
Yes, and we even pay contingency awards! But, you must be able to prove that you are racing a Mazda at a certain event on a certain day. Unfortunately, time slips that you normally get at each drag race, are not acceptable by itself as a race results. Time slips don't say "who" is racing, or "what kind of car" is being raced. Many times other pieces of information are missing also. We can accept time slips in conjunction with other materials which help support that you were indeed racing your registered Mazda at a certain event. Other pieces of information, which may help, but are not limited to, may be: Racing club membership card showing permanent racer number that's also printed on the time slips, along with a photo or video showing the same number on your car. Copies of entry forms. Call us with other ideas. Remember that you need to provide all this twice a year to remain active in the program.
PROCESSING AND SHIPPING YOUR ORDER
Where are my parts? I ordered them two days ago and I live in Timbuktu ?
Due to the high volume of technical calls and orders we get, it's normal for your order to take up to two working days to ship, even if it's a priority order. Be assured that we do process all orders as quickly as possible. We tackle all priority orders first, with even more priority given to those that come in with part numbers on them. We will look up orders for you, if needed, but that does take extra time. Ordering online will get your order shipped faster. Orders completed online before 2:00 PM Pacific Time on a normal business day will generally ship the same day, if parts are in stock in California.
How can I get my order shipped faster?
Ordering online will get your order shipped faster. Orders completed online before 12:00 PM Pacific Time on a normal business day will generally ship the same day. For competition parts and stock parts in Ontario, CA, you may have until 2:00 to complete your order online.
Can I change my order I placed online?
Once submitted, an online order cannot be modified or cancelled. You can, however, log out without completing your order and your order will be saved. This may give you a chance to give us a call with a question about a part before completing your order. If I order a part 2nd day, can I expect it in two days?
We do not guarantee any arrival time, nor compensate for late deliveries. We will do our best to ship your requested method, but cannot guarantee it. All orders take processing time. Time to look up, time to type in, time to pull the orders. We rely on outside companies to ship thousands of parts. If you place your own order online, you'll get your order faster. How long will it take to get my items?
First, it may take up to two days to process your order, although many times we can get the order out the same day if called in early. The order must then be input into our system before 12:00 at whichever parts warehouse they're shipping from. Most parts come from the Ontario , CA warehouse. If you're ordering ground, local orders currently can take roughly anywhere from 1-3 days, to the middle of the country about 3-5 working days and to the east coast approximately 5-7 working days. We do also offer FedEx 2nd day, or FedEx Overnight shipping. 2nd day and Overnight shipping would be in addition to processing time.
Where are my parts coming from?
Where the parts are coming from, is not really as important as how soon you need the parts. Many people ask where there parts are coming from, hoping that a closer warehouse will be cheaper or come faster. All parts are input to ship from our home base warehouse, which is the Ontario warehouse. Parts are only cross-shipped from MS or PA if they are not in stock in CA. Tell us when you need the parts, and we will ship the best method to get the parts there by the date you need.
