ABOUT MAZDASPEED
Mazda North American Operations provides racing support in North America through MAZDASPEED MOTORSPORTS DEVELOPMENT.
Headquartered in Irvine, Calif., Mazda North American Operations oversees the sales, marketing, parts and customer service support of Mazda vehicles in the United States, Canada and Mexico through nearly 900 dealers. Operations in Canada are managed by Mazda Canada, Inc., located in Ontario, Canada, and in Mexico by Mazda Motor de Mexico in Mexico City.
The MazdaMotorsports.com website is Mazda's Motorsports division, MAZDASPEED MOTORSPORTS DEVELOPMENT. Our website is for people who race Mazdas. Through MAZDASPEED MOTORSPORTS DEVELOPMENT, Mazda provides a support program where anyone who's racing, or building a Mazda car for racing, can purchase competition and stock parts at a discount directly from Mazda. This is a Membership only program, and our parts are not for sale to the general public. The competition parts that we sell through MAZDASPEED MOTORSPORTS DEVELOPMENT, are strictly for racing, sometimes experimental, and carry NO WARRANTIES. These parts are for off highway, racing use only.
The high stress testing and use of these parts by our racers may someday help to create MAZDASPEED parts that you can buy for your street car.
If you are looking for MAZDASPEED vehicles or MAZDASPEED Performance Accessories to enhance the performance of your street car, you can only purchase these through a "MAZDASPEED Certified" Mazda dealer.
MAZDASPEED dealers are a select group of dealerships offering vehicles, parts and accessories from our high-performance series. These dealers offer:
- MAZDASPEED repair parts
- MAZDASPEED accessories
- Staff with specialized MAZDASPEED training
- Specialized MAZDASPEED tools to repair and maintain your MAZDASPEED vehicle
You can find a MAZDASPEED Certified dealer by going to the website www.mazdausa.com. On the left of the page, type in your ZIP code in the "Locate a Dealer" box and click the orange arrow.. A list of Mazda dealers will show next. Look down the CERTIFICATIONS column for MAZDASPEED. There are very strict requirements to become a MAZDASPEED Certified dealer, so they are a bit harder to find, but well worth it. You can be assured of exceptional customer care and product knowledge at a MAZDASPEED dealer.
The list of MAZDASPEED parts is growing and soon will encompass many more of our vehicles. For a current list of MAZDASPEED parts which are available, CLICK HERE for a pdf file showing photos, part numbers and descriptions. You can use this list when you call your MAZDASPEED dealer.
Mazda and MAZDASPEED dealers do not participate in the MAZDASPEED MOTORSPORTS program and do not sell the competition racing parts offered through our racing support program. Mazda Racing Support
Mazda supports anyone who’s racing his or her Mazda in any sanctioned racing event in the U.S. or Canada. Mazda supports all types of racing, whether Road Racing, Rally, Drag, Off-Road or Autocross, as long as your event is sanctioned by a real racing organization and provides some kind of published racing results. You need to be a member of the MAZDASPEED Motorsports Racing support program to purchase parts or receive support.
On any given weekend, there are more Mazdas on the road-race tracks of America than any other brand of vehicle. At the track, you'll see MX-5 Miata, RX-8, MAZDA 3, MAZDA 6, RX-7 and other vintage Mazda models competing, because every Mazda has the Soul of a Sports Car. In fact, the fastest growing road-racing class in the U.S. is the SCCA's Spec Miata class, with nearly 1,500 first- and second-generation Miatas tearing up America's racetracks, making it the most-raced production car in the world. Mazda's involvement in motorsports extends to its relationship with Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, one of the world's premier road-racing circuits, and the Skip Barber Schools for driving and racing.

HISTORY
MAZDASPEED was originally established in 1967 under the team name "Mazda Sports Corner" at Mazda Auto Tokyo, Japan's largest Mazda dealer. The goal of the innovative team was to succeed in establishing a Mazda presence at major motorsports events worldwide and they found success quickly. During the next 15 years, hardcore Mazda racers campaigned almost every Mazda model, from the famed Cosmo 110S sports cars to RX-7s, at every road racing circuit from Japan to the U.S. In 1983, Mazda Motor Corporation brought the MAZDASPEED team from Tokyo to the company's corporate headquarters in Hiroshima to help drive Mazda's factory racing ambitions.
Under the Mazda umbrella, MAZDASPEED continued to receive extraordinary recognition for its amazing on-track performance and its many victories around the globe. In 1999, Mazda Motor Corporation took full control of MAZDASPEED.
In the U.S., Mazda's racing efforts and support were under the Mazda Motorsports banner.
In 2003 MAZDASPEED came to the U.S. first as the critically acclaimed MAZDASPEED Protege. Mazda Motorsports became MAZDASPEED MOTORSPORTS DEVELOPMENT at the same time.
Today, MAZDASPEED MOTORSPORTS DEVELOPMENT still concentrates its focus on grass-roots racing, while amateur and professional drivers throughout the racing scene select Mazdas as their best chance at victory. From SCCA Solo events to Speed World Challenge Touring Cars to the Star Mazda open-wheel series to the Grand-Am GT series, here is your best source for the latest in the vast world of Mazda racing. |
